Nope, it's an adult mystery (don't be fooled by the name ^_^) so I need at least another 10k. Standard mystery length is 80-100k (though on the shorter side is probably best for a first novel).

I know, it is sort of a 5 gallon bucket of suck...you start to get sick of the story, burned out. The lure of a new project starts hollering, looking mighty appetizing.

I start making silly bargains with myself: if I forge on and finish by such and such date I can buy myself a (inset whatever)...it doesn't always work. Sometimes I just have to put it away and not write for a bit. Then come back to it with fresh eyes.
The downside to that though, is that I take a longer break than I promised myself, and it is harder to get back into it. I have to re-read it and reacquaint myself.

That said, your story is a YA novel, yes?
If so, are you sure you really need 10,000 more? Typically, at least with American publishing, they prefer a smaller word count for YA. I'm sure you've researched it, and I don't write YA, so I am no expert on it, for sure. Just checkin'.
